Our Story

Parish Line Park was created to fill a void for baseball and softball practice space in Baton Rouge and Ascension Parish. In the past, teams reached out to churches, the parish, and anyone with enough open space to reserve fields for practice. As baseball continued to grow, the number of ballparks remained the same. There were simply not enough ballparks to accommodate the growing number of teams. This left teams having to practice in open fields or resort to not practicing at all. This is how the vision of Parish Line Park was born.

Volunteer directors of a non-profit youth baseball organization, Saints Youth Baseball, were always seeking practice space for their teams. After years of practicing in an open field off Airline Hwy and competing with other youth teams to rent the few baseball parks available, they decided the best way to provide guaranteed practice space was to build a ballpark for the community. The open field they had been practicing on was for sale, and after months of planning and preparation, the “open field” was bought in November 2019 for the future site of Parish Line Park. Construction of Parish Line Park began shortly after to be ready for baseball season in the spring of 2020.

During the fall of 2023, the park underwent major improvements, most notably the installation of turf on all 3 infields in order to provide an improved playing surface and drastically reduce the number of weather-related delays and cancellations. Other improvements included new concrete in common areas, sidewalks, drainage, fencing, and a new concrete foundation for the batting cages.

Located off Airline Hwy, on the border of Ascension and East Baton Rouge Parish, Parish Line Park offers a valuable location to teams needing baseball and softball practice space, as well as tournament organizations seeking to host events.
